During the next 4 weeks you will need to bring your work in for  2 tutorial points.  Lessons will continue as normal  and register for lessons.

  • The first to select work
  • The  second to arrange the chosen images for layout
  • On Tuesday 15 December you will have a formal assessment.  You will be graded for this term’s work and must pass this in order to move onto the next stage of this course.  In order to pass this stage of the course your  folio  must show  coverage for all projects done this term

We aim to create a  superb portfolio for your formal assessment point before Christmas and be ready for interviews in January.  For things to run smoothly we need you to be organised, punctual and thorough.

    TUTORIAL 1

    You will need:

  • Posits – essential!
  • pen and notepad

We will help you choose images from:

  • Foundation course work including sketchbooks
  • A level Art , Photography, Textiles, Design Tech, Media studies etc.

It is unlikely that AS work will be used if you took this to A2 but you can bring along selected work.  You can also submit other self motivated work.  Please make sure you have all this work together in advance of your tutorials (it is impossible to select it if you only have half your work.  Please do not expect the Art or Photography dept to be able to find your work at on the day of your tutorial, please find it in advance.
Be prepared to be asked to add/modify or finish work for inclusion within your folio work.  This will take time and it is in your interests to make sure these next 4 weeks are used effectively within lessons to complete or add to any coursework to make sure you will pass this term and maximise chances of acceptance at University.

All photography should be organised on one memory stick to show us all your work on. This means selecting the best 15 images per project rather than 150 .. This is both A2 photography and work produced for us.
We will be deciding what size images are to printed to and what sketchbooks to include.
IF YOU HAVE LARGE WORK, PHOTOGRAPH IT BEFORE YOUR TUTORIAL .  MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD PHOTOGRAPHS OF DETAILS AND THE WHOLE to show us.

During the first tutorial you will have work selected for your folio and you will need to scan(300) dpi and print out images.  These should be as good a quality as possible.  Some can be printed out on the roller copier in photography the rest can be printed on the colour copier in art.  There will be pressure on the scanners within IT so if you can come in early or stay late this is recommended.

The following projects need to be located, labelled and organised for staff when we see them.  They should have your name on the front of sketchbooks

  • A2  work- Photography /Textiles/Design Tech/Art
  • Gallery Review
  • Stereotypes
  • Intensive Drawing
  • Typophillia- make sure all mock ups and final pieces are present and this is printed and constructed well
  • Objects of Desire
  • Bright Idea
  • Narrative and Sequential – you need photos and edited films to show us
  • Life Drawing

  • Make sure all sketchbooks are named with project on the front This must be visible and easy to identify.  Georgie has the labels.
  • Drawings should be ironed, fixed or flattened etc
Expect the staff to quickly tell you what to do with the work.  Take on all advice and please carry out.  We are very experienced at doing this so trust us,  listen and act.
  • You will need a pen and notepad to take down instructions at tutorial 1 and require A CAMERA to take a photo of the layout to remember at tutorial 2.
  • All  Foundation work to date should be brought to this tutorial regardless of whether you have finished it completely or not.

    Anything else

If you have anything else you are welcome to bring it in but we do not want to see GCSE work.  It is too long ago now but if you have anything you have done outside of college then we will have a look.
